SCM Staffers Receive Starlight Awards

The University of California Procurement Leadership Council established the Starlight program to spotlight the achievements of procurement professionals systemwide for exemplary projects and initiatives that contribute to advancing the university’s core mission. Here's a look at what UC Chief Procurement Officer William Cooper and Associate vice Chancellor Jim Hine had to say about the honorees' contributions.

JOHN ARBOLINO

In a letter congratulating Arbolino, Cooper and Hine, wrote: “As the IT software and services expert, you have driven in excess of $10 million in supply chain benefits for UC San Francisco/UC Berkeley in the first three quarters of this year – more than the total of any other entire campus.” The letter went on to praise Arbolino for building strategic relationships and receiving compliments from some of the toughest clients in IT.

ANDREW CLARK

Clark was honored for his innovative approach to data analyses.

“Your development of innovative data analyses has enabled the UC Procurement system to grow in supplier management capabilities never before recognized at UC,” said Cooper and Hine. 

“The results of your work are now being utilized to provide best value choices to all our campus shoppers. We believe these contributions embody the characteristics of a successful professional that has delivered lasting change to a procurement business process.”

SUSAN RIDDLE
Riddle was recognized for demonstrating collaboration in multiple ways and capacities, particularly in the management of the rollout of the SciQuest-supported Sourcing Director. 

“You have built and sustained excellent relationships with third-party vendors, SciQuest, and various campus stakeholders across the UC system, which have facilitated positive collaborative outcomes,” said the letter from Cooper and Hine. 

“We believe these contributions embody the characteristics of a successful professional who has achieved exemplary campus or systemwide collaboration.”
